Ionix Static Eliminators for compressed air lines in plastic processing

How is static created in plastic processes?

Plastic is an electrical insulator. Therefore, the friction of the movement of resins through piping creates static electricity on their surfaces. This causes resin to clump together and bridge in narrow spaces like loaders and injection molding throats. Static also causes colorant to separate from the mix and cause color variation. These static charges will not simply go away. You must deliberately dissipate them. Install Ionix in the air line supplying compressed air to the process and Ionix dissipates any static it encounters downstream.

Applications

Applications include:
Pneumatic conveying - Install Ionix HPPL 300 in the supply air line to dissipate static created by resin movement.
Ejector lines - Installing Ionix HPPL 300 ejector air lines eliminates static in molds allowing for quick and easy parts ejection.
Loaders - Install Ionix HPPL 300 in the compressed air line to the loader to prevent downstream static that can cause bridging and colorant separation.
Parts blowoff - Install Ionix HPPL 300 in the blowoff air line.

How does Ionix work?

Ionix Static Eliminators will eliminate static on any surface that is blown on by compressed air that has gone through an Ionix Static Suppression cartridge. Therefore, any area that can be blown on with Ionix treated compressed air will have the static dissipated. When air passes through Ionix, we make the air electrically conductive so it grounds out any static charges it encounters. It works by the force of the air going through it. It is non-nuclear and does not require any electrical wiring. It works automatically when air passes through it.

How is Ionix installed?

Ionix is installed in existing compressed air hoses. The hose is cut and the hose ends are pushed over the self fitting ends of Ionix. Installation is complete.

Ionix HPPL 300 is rated to 150PSI. It cames with hose adapters for either 3/8" of 1/2" ID hose. However, you must specify hose ID at time of order.

Free No Obligation phone consultation

We're always happy to discuss your particular static problem at no charge or obligation. We like to try to solve static problems so we don't consider your call an intrustion. Your call may go to voicemail after hours but we're ntoified of after hours calls and will call you back after hours if you want. Just let us know when you want a return call. You can also email us at info@IonixTechnologies.com and we'll get back to you generally within a few hours - 24/7.

Determining the proper Ionix model for your static problem

The most difficult task is sizing the Ionix for the anticipated static. Static varies widely in operations due to many different factors such as resin material, humidity, temperature, etc. You will have to install one HPPL 300 on a 3/8" hose or two on a 1/2" ID hose to determine if it has sufficient static elimination capacity for your application.

For installation on a 3/8" ID hose, one Ionix HPPL 300 in the air line should be sufficient. However, if you want to improve the static elimination, install a 2nd Ionix HPPL 300 in series with the first Ionix.

For installation on a 1/2" ID hose, because of the increased air flow of the 1/2" ID hose, two Ionix HPPL 300 in series (one after another) should be sufficient. However, if you want to improve the static elimination, install another Ionix HPPL 300 in series with the first two.

The Ionix HPPL 300 is also available as a kit which includes 25' of 3/8" ID hose, an air gun, a HPPL300 Static Eliminator and hose clamps. The kit is not available for 1/2" ID hose.
